Love the Tokyo trains

Posted by
Hoshisato (Dippach, Luxembourg) on 4 August 2014 in Transportation.

Inspired by the book “Subway Love” by Nobuyoshi Araki, I took my camera with me on the trains and subways of Tokyo loaded with some ILFORD HP5+ film. Note all the people typing away on their i-Mode phones. I love taking the trains in Japan, we usually have a JR rail pass which also works on the local lines in Tokyo so we zoom here and there via the Yamanote and the Chuo lines while in Tokyo. The longest trip by shinkansen we took was from Beppu in Kyushu to Hanamaki in northern Tohoku via Morioka.

You are shooting digital now, but deep down, maybe even unbeknown to you, you want to try film and find out why so many happy people are still using it. If so, once you are ready to take the next step to being a happy photographer, visit my page dedicated to film photography here.

that is a fine urban candid photo! great scene inside the subway and brings back memories from my trip - i had the same observation that everyone was glued to their phone!
