Moon over Tokyo StationPosted by Hoshisato (Ealing, United Kingdom) on 31 October 2009 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio. I'm back from my two week trip to Japan. We spent most of our time in Kōya-san (高野山) and Hakone, but the last couple of days we spent in Tokyo. This time we had booked the Metropolitan Marunouchi Hotel just outside the Nipponbashi Exit of Tokyo Station and we ended up in a room with a fabulous view of the station and the city. If you look closely at the station, you can see several shinkansen (bullet trains) waiting for departure. Does anybody have a suggestion as to what the planet is that is just visible underneath the waxing moon? It was so bright that I was thinking of Venus, but I believe that Venus is only visible in the morning this time of the year. The photo was taken the evening of the 27th around 9:15PM, local time? Thanks for all your comments, please keep them coming. You will do me a great favour by visiting my black and white gallery or blog. For my trip reports, please visit my Travel Blog page.
