Gujō-Hachiman town

Posted by Hoshisato (Ealing, United Kingdom) on 23 October 2009 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio.

Quite often people ask recommendations for small towns to visit in Japan and I would certainly recommend Gujō-Hachiman as it is a lovely town and has a very nice festival, the Gujo Odori, which takes place from the middle of July until early September. Every night of the Gujo Odori, 100 lanterns are lit along the riverbanks of the Yoshida River and sent downstream.
Take the Nagaragawa Tetsudo line from Mino-Ota to get to Gujō-Hachiman from Nagoya or Gifu.
