Beachy Head with lighthouse

Posted by Hoshisato (Ealing, United Kingdom) on 26 August 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

At Birling Gap and Beachy Head we kept seeing a red car marked 'Chaplain' patrolling the parking areas. I was slightly puzzled by this as I could have seen a purpose in police or firemen patrolling to prevent theft or fires, but I couldn't think of a reason why somebody would need religious help all of a sudden. It never occurred to me that this is the infamous suicide area of England and the chaplains patrol the area to locate and stop potential jumpers. I'm just a tad slow, I guess ^_^;;
