Deutsches Bundesbahn trains #1 -- DB Class 103.1Posted by Hoshisato (Ealing, United Kingdom) on 17 July 2008 in Transportation and Portfolio. DB Class 103.1- High speed (200km/h) locomotive from the early 1970s used for TEE and IC. If you had a Märklin model train set in the 70s, it is very likely you had a model of this locomotive. They were immensely popular. Another series of negatives that I recovered from my parents house are from a trip I took with friends who were rather obsessed with trains. My mate was more into timetables, but the announcement of the train show in Emmerich, just over the German border close to Arnhem was too tempting, and I was asked along to document the trains. As far as I can make out, it must have been in the late 70s while we were still at the VWO in Zutphen. I have these photos up on Webshots.com and they turn out the be really popular having been downloaded hundreds of times. ^_^;; Thanks for all your comments, please keep them coming. You will do me a great favour by visiting my black and white gallery or blog. For my trip reports, please visit my Travel Blog page. I'll be in NL for the holidays if I can make it through the forecast snowstorms, see you in 2010! Update: I've not been able to reach Dover for two days in a row now, P&O ferries are not able to take any calls, I have no idea when I'll manage to make it to NL ^_^;;
