View from Ponte di Rialto

Posted by Hoshisato (Ealing, United Kingdom) on 4 June 2008 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio.

From the Ponte di Rialto I took this photo of the Gran Canal which divides the main island in two and which is very lively with boats, taxis and ferries. It was difficult to get a proper view of the scene I wanted as the bridge was literally flooded with souvenir stands and very crowded as it is one of the few bridges connecting the two halves of the main island. Strange how black and white makes this recently taken scene appear to be taken decades ago.

I only discovered recently that this photo was featured on the black and white category at Webshots.com a couple of weeks ago.

I'll be in NL for the holidays if I can make it through the forecast snowstorms, see you in 2010! Update: I've not been able to reach Dover for two days in a row now, P&O ferries are not able to take any calls, I have no idea when I'll manage to make it to NL ^_^;;
