St. Mark's Square

Posted by Hoshisato (Ealing, United Kingdom) on 2 June 2008 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio.

The morning after we arrived in Venice I got up around 6:30, it was dark, raining and St. Mark's Square was flooded with the acquas altas and wooden platforms were put in place for the tourists to allow them to visit the basilica once they would start to flood the square as well.

Note the columns with the lion of Saint Mark and the statue of Saint Teodoro of Amasea, representing the two patrons of Venice (Marco and Todaro.)
