Mendicant monk

Posted by Hoshisato (Ealing, United Kingdom) on 19 May 2008 in People & Portrait and Portfolio.

A monk from the Koyasan temple in Wakayama walks slowly down the main shopping street in Ginza, Tokyo. Most people seem to ignore him and rush by, only the tourists stop to take a photo.

I took several photos of this monk and not until I cropped it very tightly did I manage to catch some of the alienation between the folks and the monk in the photo.
