Winter in black&white

Following up on yesterday's post, I also took the same shot in black and white with a Y(K2) yellow filter. A professional photographer walked up to us to shoot from the same location and told me I was crazy to shoot in black and white that day. ^_^;; I disagreed then and I still disagree, I think the results are completely different and I particularly like the infrared look of the black and white version. Please compare the two versions and comment.

Since I'm new here, let me explain that I use my old Pentax MZ-3 SLR for black and white nowadays. I even went so far as to buy a second hand Pentax MZ-S (their top-of-the-line model SLR) recently as it doesn't look like Pentax will be releasing a similar quality SLR ever again. Why don't I shoot in colour with my DSLR and turn the photos into black and white with a tool like Photoshop? I have seen the most fantastic results achieved this way but I find it difficult to create the images I want myself.

Camera: Pentax MZ-3, lens: Sigma 28-300mm - 1:3.5-6.3 + ILFORD FP4+

Thanks for all your comments, please keep them coming. You will do me a great favour by visiting my black and white gallery or blog. For my trip reports, please visit my Travel Blog page.

I'll be in NL for the holidays if I can make it through the forecast snowstorms, see you in 2010! Update: I've not been able to reach Dover for two days in a row now, P&O ferries are not able to take any calls, I have no idea when I'll manage to make it to NL ^_^;;
